Biography

Charles Boncelet is a Professor of Electrical & Computer Engineering and Computer & Information Sciences at the University of Delaware. He joined Delaware in 1984 after graduating from Princeton with a PhD in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. He holds a Bachelors degree in Applied and Engineering Physics from Cornell University.

He has held visiting positions at the University of Michigan, the Tampere Institute of Technology (in Tampere, Finland), and the Australian Defence Force Academy (in Canberra, Australia). He has worked for Bell Laboratories and has consulted with various industries, government agencies, and legal firms.

Boncelet's research interests are in signal processing, information theory, communications, networking, and computer science. His research has been supported by the NSF, ARL, CIA, NGA, DARPA, and industry. He is a member of the IEEE, ACM, ASEE, SIAM, and the Delaware Academy of Science.

Boncelet has served as President of the University of Delaware Faculty Senate, Associate Chair of the ECE Department, and president of his neighborhood maintenance association. In his spare time, he has been a youth soccer and baseball coach.
