My research focuses on interconnection networks, the networks
which traditionally connect shared-memory and message-passing
multiprocessor systems, but have recently been deployed in a
wide array of communication systems (I/O interconnect,
Internet routers, high-speed LANs, storage networks, on-chip
networks). In these systems, the demand for bandwidth is fast
overwhelming the limits of bus-based and crossbar-based
fabrics and interconnection networks have surfaced as a
viable alternative.
While the performance of interconnection networks is
critical, its power consumption is becoming increasingly as
important as performance. A power-driven approach is needed,
requiring major innovations in interconnection network
design, from its theoretical foundations, to architectures,
to circuits design. More details and results of my group's
research are available at my home page.
