Role of Evacuation Monitors

1) It is the responsibility of the Evacuation Monitors to assist everyone (especially in your area of responsibility listed above) in leaving the buildings and to ensure that no one remains behind.

2) On leaving, everyone in the EE department is to gather outside as stated. You must cross Olden Street if coming through the main entrance.
3) On the sounding of a fire alarm, it is the responsibility of each individual to secure equipment
(if doing so does not endanger his/her personal safety), close the door of his/her work area and leave the building. Emergency exit routes are posted through the E-Quad buildings.

4) You are not required to fight fires. Public safety has primary responsibility for managing fire emergencies and must be notified immediately of such situations at 9-1-1

5) If you discover a fire, activate the nearest fire alarm pull station and call public safety at 9-1-1.

6) You may attempt to put out the fire if you have been trained in and are comfortable with using a fire extinguisher, otherwise, immediately evacuate!

7) You must remain at the above assembly area until you hear the sound of a horn.
