Arrival

Your arrival date to the department depends on your program of study.  Most students (especially those in Computer Engineering or Information Systems and Sciences) should plan to arrive in time for the university’s orientation and registration, which is typically in early September.  Please consult the Graduate School webpage.

For students who are required to take the Silicon Lab course before classes begin, your arrival date will be earlier.  Letters alerting you to this lab course are mailed to you after receiving your formal acceptance of our offer of admission.  The Department will provide Frist Campus Center Meal Cards for the duration of the course.  Because you are required to be on campus before the actual move-in date, EE Department will  cover the additional housing costs, and health benefits.

Soon after you arrive on campus as a new graduate student, please stop by the EE graduate program office in Room B-209 of the E-Quad to receive information regarding your departmental mailbox, academic advisor and mentor, and other important details.

Shuttles, Parking, Public Safety

Graduate student on-campus parking is available, but is prioritized for students who live off-campus or who have special needs. No working-hours parking is available to graduate students in the immediate lots surrounding the E-Quad.   Please see the parking webpage for more information: http://web.princeton.edu/sites/tigercard/parking.html

The university offers a shuttle service that loops around the graduate student housing sites.  The schedule is available at this web page:
http://www.princeton.edu/pr/visitors/shuttles.shtml

Late Night rides home are available from Public Safety.  Please call them; they will pick you up at the E-Quad and bring you to your campus residence.

Department Mailing Address

The Department requests that EE graduate students have personal mail sent to their home residences.  Research journals, newspapers, magazines, Call for Paper announcements, etc., may be mailed to your departmental address, which uses the following format:
Your Name
Dept. of Electrical Engineering
Princeton University
Princeton, NJ  08544

Lounge and General-use Areas

Room B-211 is the department lounge for undergraduate and graduate students.  The combination for the lock in this room may be obtained from your fellow graduate students or from the Grad Coordinator. The room has a microwave, coffee machine, and computers/printer for general use, as well as seating areas in the larger room.  The computers are shared by undergraduates and grads for reading email and other light use.  Please do not leave your personal belongings on these computer tables for extended time.

On most Fridays throughout the calendar year, cookies and drinks are available to the EE graduate students, our faculty and staff.   You are welcome to join the many that congregate on Friday afternoons at 4pm to chat and enjoy the refreshments.
