Fields of Research Activity: Optical networks.
Experience: He has done research and taught courses in the areas of fiber-optic communications systems, quantum electronics, and digital signal processing, and has published more than 100 journal papers in the areas of his research interests.
Biography: Paul R. Prucnal was born in Norwalk, CT, on June 18, 1953. He received the A.B. degree from Bowdoin College, Brunswick, ME in 1974, and the M.S., M.Phil. and Ph.D. degrees from Columbia University in 1976, 1978, and 1979 respectively. From 1979 to 1984 he was an Assistant Professor, and from 1984 to 1987, an Associate Professor at Columbia University. In February 1988 he joined the Department of Electrical Engineering at Princeton University. He is currently Associate Editor of the IEEE Transactions on Communications and Applied Optics.
